Been meaning to write this blog post for a month but put if off till I had more free time to look back and reflect on what I have learnt over the past month.
For those who may not know, I have moved to another company in a new industry that I am unfamiliar with and its been a learning curve with lots of knowledge yet to be attained. This is the BSFI industry. I am also holding multiple roles as tech lead and scrum master, people manager and team coach.
Knowing the people, processes, technology and the culture within the organization is proving to be a exciting yet challenging situation.
Imagine rolling out a new application such as a chatbot or system online that requires integration with mobile, website, backend core system and reporting. Its a whole lot of engagement with a lot of red tape, reviews and approvals as well as negotiations. Meetings are also abundant in an organization so full of people.
While I am ok with it so far due to all the new learnings, its by far a messy situation where processes are going in circles and getting responses from people is a tedious but necessary activity. Who knows if this culture will change in future but I will give it the benefit of the doubt.
One thing I am excited about is a project I am managing to deliver with my team by Q4 this year and hopefully it will come to fruition. Fingers crossed.
In the meantime, I am also busy working with others to establish myself in the organization and find what works best for me. So, I do hope this will work out and I do not disappoint those who depend on me and my team to make this come true. If it happens, next year will be an exciting year indeed 🙂
