2015 Movie Review - Mad Max : Fury Road

The fact is .. i knew Mel Gibson starred in the previous Mad Max installments.
At the end of this version of Mad Max, I only know Tom Hardy is Max and Charlize Theron is the Imperator Furiosa.

That's it.
The good thing about this movie is that there is no need to think. Just sit and ride along with the flow.

And mind you .. Mad Max gets vrooming from the get-go when he is captured and milked for his blood to feed the war boy, Nux. We never knew why the War Boys had such afflictions but this serves as the starting point for Max's involvement in the chase that is to come.
Charlize Theron's Furiosa character similarity to Sigourney Weaver's Ripley in Aliens is unmistakable. Her steel hardiness and resolution leads to her hijacking a war rig and antagonize the movie's main antagonist, Immortan Joe (played by Hugh Keays-Byrne).

She plans to send Immortan Joe's 5 wives to the Green Place, her hometown. The most prominent wife is Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's The Splendid Angharad. (Don't ask me how they come up with this names as it could only be dreamed up in a fantasy land).

So begins the journey of Furiosa with her War Boys and war rig being chased by Immortan Joe together with his army of War Boys, including Nux (Nicholas Hoult). Max is brought along and strapped to the front of Nux's war vehicle and used as a blood bank.

Immortan Joe is joined by allies from Gas Town and Bullet Farm to capture Furiosa. From there on, the chase goes on until Max is freed when Nux's vehicle is destroyed by the War Rig.

Furiosa and Max eventually reaches the Green Place and is disappointed that it is a barren land with a few remaining inhabitants.
The most 'endearing' part of the movie is when they decide to go back the same way they came from in order to win the Citadel back from Immortan Joe.
From there' all hell breaks loose but of course, in the end everything ends well for the heroes. The exciting part of this movie is the chase and the various heavily 'modified' vehicles that is used in the movie.

2015 Movie Review - Tracers

Category: Movies
Published Date Written by Jason Loo

Parkour films have been getting popular as of late. This was evident with movies from the late Paul Walker's Brick Mansions and a few other movies the past few years.

Tracers is another such movie with the central theme focusing on a NYC bike messenger, Cam (Taylor Lautner) who gets involved with a parkour crew who commits crimes to get paid. The crew is headed by Miller (Adam Rayner).

Cam's decision to join the crew is partly motivated by the debt he owes to Chinese loan sharks and partly a girl that he accidentally met, Nikki (Marie Avgeropoulos, last seen in the tv series The 100).

Nikki is protected by her brother, Dylan (Rafi Gavron) and also turns out to be Miller's girlfriend. The final parkour job they perform results an almost deadly end for the crew.
In the end, the hero gets the lady and all is set right.

In terms of a parkour movie, the cinema sights is great, focusing on the abandoned ship in the dockyard and also various rooftops of New York.
