Star Wars : The Force Awakens
is the 7th movie in the Star Wars franchise which is really more intriguing than the previous pre-quels about Anakin Skywalker.
The premise is set 30 years after the Battle of Endor which saw the destruction of the Empire and its evil emperor together with the ultimate villain, Darth Vader.

The movie begins with the search for the missing Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) by Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac). Poe is captured by the First Oder. Before you start wondering, the story is that Luke was betrayed when restoring the Jedi order and has not appeared since.

We are also introduced to stormtrooper Finn (John Boyega), who defects from the First Order and helps Poe Dameron to escape and also Rey (Daisy Ridley) who remains a mystery as to whom her parents are. Rey possesses the powers of the Jedi.

Han Solo and Chewbacca later appears when Rey pilots the long lost Millennium Falcon and is later picked up by Han and Chewbacca. Together they travel across the galaxy in search of Luke Skywalker.

As the movie reveals, the villain is Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) who is  the grandson of Anakin and has the same powerful Jedi powers as Luke and Darth Vader. Here also, Kylo Ren serves as the henchman to Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis), head of the First Order dedicated to restoring the ways of the Empire.

So it seems, in the sequel, the Rebels led by General Leia Organa have become the dominant force in the galaxy and the Dark side and Empire forces have become the opposing force.
The First Order reveals a new weapon, Starkiller Base, which is used to destroy several planets. It becomes the mission of the Millennium Falcon crew to destroy the base.

The old cast trio of Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill all look very different from their younger days while Boyega and Ridley is the new generation of Star Wars, though not so convincingly.
The storyline is not too deep and should allow eve non Star Wars fans to enjoy the movie.
However, the ending is cut short and leaves many questions unanswered e.g. who is her family etc.
Rating : 7 / 10 - Better than the prequels but nothing new. Watch only if you are a true fan of Star Wars.
